Sarah Schwartz began her culinary career at the age of 18 working as a cake decorator in San Diego, California. At 21, she graduated Magna Cum Laude from the California Culinary Academy in San Francisco with a Certificate in Patisserie and Baking. Sarah moved to Charlottesville in 2008 to work at Gearharts Fine Chocolates, quickly moving up the ranks to become Kitchen Manager, a position she still holds today. Sarah has fallen in love with Charlottesville’s booming food scene and has enjoyed being an integral part of Gearhart’s success over the years.
After serving as a cook in the Marine Corps, Tim formally trained in pastry at The Culinary Institute of America. He then externed at Charlottesville’s famed Keswick Hall before helping with the launch of Hamiltons’ at First & Main as the pastry chef. His culinary career then took him to places as far-flung as a dude ranch in Wyoming and a castle in southern England, with stops in fine-dining restaurants along the way. He finally returned to Charlottesville to open Gearharts Fine Chocolates, where he and his team have been crafting distinctive artisan chocolates enjoyed by customers near and far.
Maureen is a chocolatier at Geaharts Fine Chocolates. While working years in the Financial Planning industry, she realized planning the menu for corporate events was much more exciting than crunching numbers. Volunteering extensively at her children’s school and in the community, family and friends urged Maureen to explore the idea of turning her culinary interests into a new profession. Working as a Pastry Chef and Bakery Manager she continued her creative studio cake creations for the local Wedding and Event Planning Industry. As a pourer at a local vineyard she shares her knowledge for food, wine and chocolate pairings, and brings her many culinary food talents together as an essential member of the Gearharts team
